Warm summer weather is just around the corner here in Temecula and other wine regions, and we have a few tips to help ensure your wine tasting trips this season are a success!
1. Never leave wine in the car!
This is a mistake many people make when they buy wine to take home, then leave it in the car while they visit another winery, stop for lunch, or do some shopping. As your car heats up, so does the wine left inside, which can push out the cork, let air in, and prematurely oxidize your wine. If you only have a few bottles, bring them with you inside your next destination. If you have more than you can carry, plan ahead and bring a cooler with some ice packs so that your wine can stay cool while in the car.
2. Plan for sun and heat!
Temecula Wine Country (and most other wine regions) can get very hot during the summer, so dress accordingly and use sunscreen! And although our outdoor seating areas at Doffo Winery are shaded and kept a little cooler with misters, hats are a good idea for those other stops you might make where shade is not as plentiful.
3. Hydrate!
This is important when wine tasting any time of year, but especially so during the summer. So be sure to drink plenty of water!
4. Book your visit in advance!
Although we do not require reservations for groups of 1-7 people, it’s always a good idea to book your tasting in advance, especially on busier weekend days. Please note that reservations are required for groups of 8-15 guests, as well as for our private tasting experiences and our Cork N Torque vineyard tour.
