In this edition of Meet the Staff, we caught up with one of our newest – and youngest! – employees. Nick Thomas is a Murrieta/Temecula local and has been working on the Doffo Winery support team and as a barback. Nick is one of the hardest working young men we’ve had the pleasure of working with, and we’re excited to introduce him to all of you!
Describe what it’s like to work in the wine industry and how you came to work at Doffo?
Coming into the wine industry, you can immediately tell the depth of this culture. While I am far from knowing everything, little by little I am further ingrained into the process that generations have dedicated to developing. With Doffo Winery being family-owned, the idea of family ties is huge. With my sister currently employed, I thought I might give working here a shot.
What is it like to work with the Doffo family?
Every single member of the family is friendly and inspiring. I learn more every day about the family’s growth, while further witnessing the current growth with my own eyes. Not only does their leadership and hard work inspire me to perform my best at Doffo, but it also inspires me to excel in my own personal life.
What is your favorite part of what you do at Doffo?
My favorite part of working at Doffo is being a part of something big. While my job to the customer might be overlooked, the customer is in no way overlooked by me. Whether it is making sure the bars have clean glasses, filling up propane tanks, answering the occasional question, and much MUCH more, finishing my piece of the massive puzzle with quality and speed is fulfilling.
You are currently in school. Are you studying anything wine-related? What are your career goals?
I am studying mechanical engineering, and while that might not be typically seen as wine-related, everything in the modern day is benefited by engineering. With the wonderful relationships I have built here and continue to build, I have no trouble seeing wine in my future.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My free time is primarily spent with friends and family. I often play games or travel with the people I spend time with.
